DecaWave ScenSor is a family of semiconductor radio communications products. The DW1000 is a complete, single chip CMOS Ultra-Wideband IC based on the IEEE 802.15.4-2011 standard, which can enable tagged objects to be located both indoors and out to within 10 cm.

The resulting silicon has a very wide range of applications for both Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) and Ultra Low Power Wireless Transceivers, including manufacturing, ePOS and retail, building automation, automotive, healthcare, lighting, security, transport, inventory, supply chain management and other industries.

There are very compelling use cases for mobile handset manufacturers and operators to use DecaWave technology:

accurate location relative to other enabled handsets can be achieved without any other 802.15.4-2011 infrastructure. This can enable the location of mislaid personal or secure items and people.

enabled handset can determine precise location indoors in a shopping mall or other location fitted with RTLS, with this information to be used for precise and reliable location based services

enabled handsets can also determine precise proximity to in-store detector nodes and use this information for location based services

In addition to consumer focused applications, these location-based capabilities can also be configured to apply across numerous other specialist markets, such as healthcare and security.
