Each week, we’ll be showcasing one of our suppliers from our line card and what distinguishes them from the competition. This week’s supplier is Globalstar, a leading provider of mobile satellite voice and data services.

Who is Globalstar?

Globalstar is a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation for satellite phone and low-speed data communications. Globalstar provides affordable and reliable, mobile voice and data communications when beyond cellular services. They rely on a superior satellite network & excellent team members around the world to deliver quality products, services and peace of mind.

How are they different?

Satellite solutions from Globalstar are helping companies affordably and reliably address industrial IoT demands over a complete and fully modernized satellite network. These businesses are increasingly adopting automated satellite solutions to streamline M2M operations, monitor and manage remote assets, serve as redundancy to terrestrial communications networks and enable users to retain a competitive edge in today's hyper-connected, global marketplace.

What are their most popular products?

SmartOne Solar - The SmartOne Solar is the next generation of Globalstar’s industry-acclaimed SmartOne product line. While operating on one of the most modern and fastest satellite networks in the world and powered by the sun, this IoT device provides excellent remote monitoring and tracking capabilities.

The SmartOne Solar’s NiMH rechargeable batteries deliver over 10 years of life, drastically reducing maintenance time and cost for labor and parts. It lets users intelligently configure reporting times and intervals for custom information delivery.

The SmartOne Solar is certified Intrinsically Safe with unparalleled safety/device certifications such as  ATEX Class I Zone 0: Division 1, OSHA Hazard Location Classification of Class 1, UL 60079-0, CSA STD C22.2, IP69K, HERO (Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance) and others to meet the needs of every application. Let the SmartOne Solar streamline your M2M operations today.

SmartOne C - There’s a lot at stake in your line of work, but you can’t be everywhere at once. Fortunately, there’s a device that provides intelligent management of both fixed and mobile assets. The SmartOne C Monitor serves as a practical solution for your goals in regard to both operating efficiency and security. Use this device to track a multitude of assets, including intermediate bulk containers, vehicles and boats.

The SmartOne C can be line-powered, or in the absence or interruption of external power, will automatically switch to battery back-up. The SmartOne C Monitor utilizes motion sensors, comparative GPS positions and custom configured sensors to gather and transmit asset status information. Each device is configured to track its asset's specific needs and provide intermediate and emergency alerts by email or text.

USAGE TIPS

  • Integrate with VAR software to receive alerts by email or text.
  • Install using industrial adhesives, brackets or screw mounts.
  • When using line power, enjoy maximum flexibility in messaging frequency, allowing for regular monitoring of asset location.

STX3 - If you design and build compact and efficient communications devices, Globalstar has great news for you. The Globalstar satellite transmitter has been reduced by 2/3 of its size. Combined with affordable pricing and low power consumption, the module’s small size makes this highly efficient device ideal for integration in a wide variety of applications—including liquid petroleum gas tanks, water tanks, pipelines, electricity, meters, cars, trucks, boats, and sea or land containers.

The STX3 Satellite Transmitter sends one-way data messages when integrated into a tracking or monitoring device. The unit is ready to deliver remote sensing, tracking and monitoring capabilities. It integrates satellite connectivity into products with limited size requirements, including those for vehicle and asset tracking, remote data reporting, and data-logger reporting.

Using the Globalstar Simplex data network, the STX3 allows information to be globally transmitted from areas well beyond the reach of reliable cellular coverage.

STINGR - Globalstar has introduced a complete tracking solution in a single module which dramatically reduces the design effort required to help customers build compact and efficient satellite communications devices. Using the Globalstar Simplex data network, the STINGR allows information to be transmitted from areas well beyond the reach of reliable cellular coverage around the globe.

The STINGR is a low cost, OEM simplex module which sends one-way data messages via the Globalstar Simplex Network. The module includes a high-performance GPS receiver as well as an on-board dual band antenna which greatly simplifies the effort of integrating satellite communications into a tracking or monitoring device. The STINGR is ideal for delivering remote sensing, tracking, and monitoring applications.
