What do you do at Symmetry?

I am a Field Sales Engineer covering the Bay Area, WA, OR, and Western Canada.

How long have you worked at Symmetry?

I have known Symmetry for a long time and recently had the opportunity to join in April 2017.

What’s your favorite thing about Symmetry? 

There are 3 things that stood out for me regarding Symmetry Electronics;  the People, the Products and the Customer Potential. The People are all pulling together as a team to support our customers. We have a very focused line-card which leads to a very focused customer base in Wireless, Audio, Video and Embedded.

These customers rely on Symmetry’s flexibility and effort to launch their products into a competitive market.

The Products are ideal for the rapidly expanding IoT space where every device becomes “smart”. The ecosystem of sensors, microcontrollers and connectivity work together with cloud resources to create extraordinary value.

The Customer Potential to deploy connected products is growing all the time. These products are disrupting long-established business processes while creating new businesses.

What did you do before working at Symmetry?

I have spent a career in technology sales in the Bay Area. I have supported many complex and high volume designs in cell phones, core/edge routers, enterprise Ethernet switches, blade servers, and optical interconnect.

Early in my career, I supported the Telecom to Datacom transition. This followed with the systems which enable the cloud computing, storage, and networking business models. Now, having engaged in building the “internet” systems, I am delighted to support the teams creating the “things”.

What exciting trends do you see in our industry?

The IoT, M2M, and Video trends are creating waves through our industry. Connecting multiple sensors to a cloud computing infrastructure enables immense creativity in new applications. These responsive systems are changing the way that users and devices interact. From Autonomous cars, Smart factories, Smart cities to Smart homes information is generated, analyzed, learned from and responses are generated. The algorithms for analysis and learning are just getting started.

What do you like to do when you’re not working at Symmetry?

I really enjoy watching the Giants beat the Dodgers …

I have been helping friends accept the Raider’s leaving for Las Vegas.

I also enjoy biking and gardening.

But lately, I’ve been helping my wife with her translation and recording of Billie Holiday standards into Spanish. We have established a record company which will accelerate distribution of the music through downloads and streaming platforms.
