Symmetry Electronics Partners with MultiTech and Twilio To Offer Fleet Tracking Development Kit
Symmetry Electronics is excited to announce an exclusive fleet tracking development kit from MultiTech and Twilio. This is the first development kit available, in an IoT series, offered by Twilio. The kit is designed for managing vehicle fleets and will collect data on driver performance. In addition, the kit uses MultiTech’s award winning MultiConnect Dragonfly™ and customized development board.
Twilio, a leading cloud communications platform, has created a series of IoT blueprints, which will help engineers develop prototypes for the most popular IoT applications. Fleet Tracker, the first blueprint in this series, will yield information such as miles driven, hours of usage, location, speed, fuel consumption and driver acceleration rates.
"IoT apps have traditionally been more complex for developers to build,” said Chetan Chaudhary, head of the IoT business unit at Twilio. Twilio's IoT Blueprints are designed to solve this challenge by providing all the necessary accessories right out of the box. “Multitech’s development kit, which includes its production ready, pre-certified Dragonfly cellular solution, is ideally suited for the developer community."
Using the MultiTech Dragonfly System on a Module (SoM), saves design engineers significant time in bringing an IoT device to market. All Dragonfly modules ship with the ARM mbed platform and its integrated Cortex®-M4 processor. Developers can host their application and have access to a full suite of interfaces for connecting sensors or other remote assets.
The MultiTech Fleet Tracker Development Kit is available now from Symmetry Electronics. The MTUDK2-TCP kit includes:
- 1 x MTUDK2-TCP - Developer board customized to work with the Fleet Tracker Blueprint
- 1 x MTQ-H5-B01-SP - HSPA+ SoM with GPS
- 1 x Universal Power Supply w/US Blade
- 1 x Micro USB Cable
- 1 x MTS Logo Screwdriver
- 1 x Twilio Supplied SIM card
The Fleet Tracker Blueprint also recommends these 2 antennas from Ethertronics:
Octa-Band Balanced Cellular LTE Embedded Antenna
GPS active patch antenna
