Bluetooth® is a low-power wireless connectivity technology used to stream audio, transfer data and broadcast information between devices. Bluetooth uses short-wavelength UHF radio waves in the ISM band from 2.4 to 2.485 GHz. There are two types of Bluetooth technology, Basic Rate/Enhanced Data Rate (BR/EDR) and Low Energy (LE).

Bluetooth 5 provides double the speed (2 Mbit/s), 4x the range, and 8x the data broadcasting capacity of transmissions compared to Bluetooth 4.x low energy. Bluetooth 5 adds functionality for connectionless services such as location relevant navigation of low energy Bluetooth connections.
