The Future of IoT & Semiconductors: Part 4
USB-C & Bluetooth:
USB-C will be adopted into many more devices like cell phones, TVs and laptops. This will cut down tremendously on all the various cables needed to hook up your electronics. For example, you will have several USB-C cables. With these identical cables you can: charge your phone, charge your laptop, power your TV and transfer data between all of these devices, all with the same cable. HDMI, DVI, Displayport, standard power cables, will phase out. The market will be flooded with USB 2 and 3 to USB-C adapters but in a few years these will be primarily obsolete and everything will be USB-C.
Bluetooth 5 is a gamechanger and will be the primary driver between interoperability of devices. Bluetooth 5 mesh networking opens up a lot of doors for wireless communication at long distances and with low power consumption.
